My Path in BanklessDAO | BanklessDAO Weekly Rollup
Catch Up With What Happened This Week in BanklessDAO
Dear Bankless Nation đ´,
Seasonâs greetings! Itâs that time of year when many of us celebrate âthe year that wasâ and catch up with friends and family. With many DAO activities on pause for the holiday season, take some time off and enjoy.
In spite of the festivities, we should still participate in governance. The bDIP-02 proposal recently reached quorum on the DAO Forum, so please keep an eye out for a Snapshot vote on making UTC the official time of BanklessDAO.
FINAL REMINDER: Multisigs must claim and delegate SAFE tokens to daostewards.eth (or another wallet address) by December 27! Use it or lose it folks. Speaking of losing it, the InfoSec Team, in conjunction with twoeggs, is working on a Crypto Scams Survey. Please take the survey; in doing so, youâre helping to make web3 safer (and a POAP awaits you).
This weekâs easy-reading editorial has Kaf taking us through his path in BanklessDAO, and his journey from regular old fiat-space employee to full-time DAO! Also, a special shout out to one of the Newsletter Teamâs own â AustinFoss received a long-overdue L2 nomination. Congratulations Austin!
Wishing you happy holidays. Say hello to Santa!

My Path in BanklessDAO
Author: Kaf
My path to working full-time DAO started with BanklessDAO.
I can proudly say that I have experienced working in some of the best DAOs out there, and this has helped me learn and grow both professionally and personally.
Until two years ago, I worked as an employee for bosses whom, honestly, I couldn't stand. DAOs have given me an opportunity to discover a new way to make a living and build a career.
As I started considering the possibilities that DAOs offer, I started questioning everything I believed in. Our economic system is broken and DeFi can save us. Ending the abuse of power financial institutions hold over people sounded good to me.
At first, I thought about learning how to code and become a blockchain developer, but it turned out to be too overwhelming for me. I have always liked to write and decided that was the best place to start contributing.
I wrote my first article one year ago, called What is a DAO? Shortly after, a member of BanklessDAO contacted me and explained how the Writers Guild worked. In January 2022, I published an article in which I explained why DAOs will change everything. That was my first bounty as a DAO contributor, and the end of my traditional job â the start of my Bankless journey. Since I went down the rabbit hole, I haven't come out.
I would like to thank HiroKennelly for his support from the beginning. He was the one who walked me through onboarding and who supported me in the first contributions. I still remember how lost I was at the beginning:
Diving through Discord channels I came across the Translators Guild, which at the time was breaking away from BanklessDAO to create the International Media Node. The rest is history. I want to thank Ornella for her help; she took the time to answer the hundreds of questions I had in a 15-minute call that opened the door for the rest of my path.
At the time, BanklessDAO en EspaĂąol was in the process of being born. We were a small group of Spanish speakers whose goal was to translate the content of BanklessDAO and BanklessHQ. We are currently a solid team of contributors from all over the world that continually seeks to expand.
After a month, I could already say that I felt comfortable within BanklessDAO. I spent the early days understanding how the DAO worked and thanks to the help of other members, my doubts were resolved. I became a contributor and consumer of Bankless content. David and Ryan's interviews are some of the best in the crypto space and their philosophy had me hooked. The interview with Vitalik is one of my favorites:
As I wanted to increase my contribution, I explored publishing articles through Bankless Publishing. However, I realized that the process to publish articles was slower than I would like. Articles have to pass several editing rounds for quality control, and the organization for the distribution of bounties was not clear to me.
So I thought: where else can I contribute?
I asked several members if they needed help with writing content and was quickly told that there was an opening at the Decentralized Arts (DA) newsletter. I spoke with Grendel and Kouros, who told me the steps to follow. I want to thank them also for giving me the opportunity.
My first article for DA was about Minted Film, an art documentary financed through a collection of NFTs produced by 19 Studio and Unleyek.
Since then I have published more than 30 articles for Decentralized Arts on topics that I know well, like Monaverse and Decentraland. Decentralized Arts became one of the projects that created the most content for BanklessDAO, which led them to being a fully self-managed project by the start of Season 6.
Grendel created a Decentralized Arts group on Discord, where we collaborate weekly to produce quality content. The truth is that it is one of my favorite places to contribute, since I have the opportunity to get to know projects that interest me as well as connect with reputable artists and creators. Thanks to the editing done by Frank America and Nonsense, the articles look spectacular. I look forward to Decentralized Arts being a reputable brand in web3. That's what the team is building towards.
Another person I would like to mention is Ernest of Gaia, one of the most active contributors within the DAO and with whom I recently collaborated to launch a course about Notion. The course is aimed at people who want to know how to take advantage of Notion within a DAO. The final reward is a skin/wearable NFT with which you look amazing in Decentraland.
Roughly speaking, that has been my path at BanklessDAO. Obviously I am forgetting many contributions, connections, and learning opportunities that I have made. In short, practically everything I know about web3 I owe to BanklessDAO. All this free knowledge that they offer to their contributors is invaluable.
BanklessDAO not only offers resources of all kinds to learn, but also gives you the opportunity to practice the principles of a decentralized workplace. You learn by building.
I have contributed to other DAOs, some of which have perished, not able to overcome the many obstacles that have arisen in the bear market. Many communities start out enthusiastically, but run head-on into the difficulty of decentralized governance.
Managing a community of people from all over the world is not an easy task and 2022 has been a disaster for the price of cryptocurrencies. However, BanklessDAO has remained strong and the future is bright, which motivates me to continue helping more people #gobankless.
As a contributor, I am concerned about the regulation of crypto spaces in general and DAOs in particular. Let us hope that the rulers do not hinder what for me is a true revolution.
Finally, I think that after a year I have acquired certain skills that are very useful when it comes to being a DAO contributor. My last article published on Bankless Publishing precisely describes 7 Essential DAO Skills that will make you stand out in any DAO.
To anyone who wants to get started contributing to DAOs, I would recommend learning about BanklessDAO like I did and I would give one final piece of advice [adjusted from JFKâs original] for those who want to shine in the DAO ecosystem:
âDon't ask what a DAO can do for you, ask what you can do for a DAO.â

đ Governance
Snapshot Vote
đłď¸ Delegate DAO SAFE Tokens To DAOstewards.eth
At the end of September the Safe project, a âspin-off from Gnosisâ, launched SafeDAO and the SAFE token. Until December 27, Gnosis Safes are able to claim their airdropped SAFE, and bDAO has dozens of these safes. Transfer of SAFE tokens to other accounts is disabled; for the time being it truly is a valueless governance token. All that a holder can do is delegate the tokens to a nominated address which is then able to vote on the token holderâs behalf.
Discussion about what bDAO should do with our SAFE tokens was started by Jengajojo, later continued by 0xbaer, and now a vote has landed on Snapshot. If passed âthe BanklessDAO multisig will delegate the multisig SAFE tokens to DAOstewards.eth.â
Voting closes at 11:00 AM UTC on December 26.
