The Merge
From the creator:
“This sound collage is a merging of voices from BanklessDAO community calls. Listen closely and you'll hear voices of some of the DAO's most passionate contributors from day 0. My first Bankless community call was my first true DAO experience. I had never felt anything like it. Community…Chaos. ANONs, Crypto Natives, Rebellious hopefuls. All gathering in Discord at some kind of sci-fi decentralized watering hole.
Highlights include Nonsense talking about our beloved DEGEN bot thrown in Discord jail, echoes from Frogmonkee discussing the first season, JENetics announcing the launch of Ultrasound Merch, our Minister of Hype Michael Wong heating up the crowd, Crypto Bushi telling us about his first NFT offering and many more voices of the community.
BanklessDAO holds a historic place in the space as a whole and I hope this captures some of the people-powered magic that runs through it all.” —Sinjun

Polygon Now Supported by Rarible
As of last week, the popular NFT marketplace Rarible now supports four blockchains: Ethereum, Polygon (Matic), Flow, and Tezos.
In addition to this, to help people manage their NFTs from the different blockchains, Rarible has launched the Multi-Wallet Profile. You can now add all your wallets from any Rarible-supported blockchain into one Rarible profile. You can see the guide on how to use it here.
Bored Ape Yacht Club Releases “ApeCoin” Token to its NFT Holders
Yuga Labs, the creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), have once again caused a stir in the crypto community by launching the ApeCoin just days after they bought the CryptoPunks and Meebits intellectual properties (IP) from Larva Labs.
ApeCoin was released by ApeCoin DAO. Though the DAO is separate from Yuga Labs, the company did adopt ApeCoin as its “primary token for the BAYC ecosystem, as well as future Yuga products and services,” as Yuga Labs tweeted on Wednesday. Holders of ApeCoin will have governance rights over the DAO and its decision-making, along with other perks.
The total fixed supply is 1 billion tokens, with the following allocation to BAYC NFT holders:
The token at the time of writing is trading at about 14 USD, lower than the peak of 17.17 USD on Friday.
Metaverse Fashion Week
Digital fashion is here to stay
Author: Kaf
Last December, Decentraland, in collaboration with UNDX, announced that from March 24 to 27, the Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) will take place in Decentraland’s fashion district. But before we get into it, let’s dive into what the metaverse is, and Decentraland’s part in it.
The Metaverse
The metaverse may be one of the most revolutionary technological concepts of recent times. Loved by many, hated by others, what cannot be denied is that more and more household brands are entering this virtual reality. Younger generations spend the same hours in reality as in front of a screen. Video games, virtual concerts, digital meet-ups, social networks…the online presence of people is growing rapidly and the next natural step is the metaverse.
Many people think of the metaverse as simply putting on virtual reality goggles to play a video game. While this may be part of the metaverse, this only scratches the surface. The metaverse is being built to aggregate all of the activity we already commit online, using avatars and meeting spaces to make possible virtually what we do in real life. However, it is important to understand that the metaverse, as a Web3 technology, represents a paradigm shift. Because it lives on the blockchain, the user can become the true owner of any assets they purchase, earn, or win in that virtual world.
Decentraland
Decentraland is a decentralized application (dApp) built on the Ethereum blockchain, that runs as a virtual reality platform. It is a kind of multiplayer online role-playing game in which you can own land and build whatever they want on it; buy and sell digital items; create, experience, and monetize your own content and apps; all while you explore, chat, interact with, and play in the digital world.
In Decentraland, you can go to art galleries. Sotheby's, the famous highbrow art gallery and auction house, has a space you can visit in Decentraland! You can go to a casino and win real money playing roulette or blackjack. You can attend concerts or virtual classes. The possibilities depend on the collective imagination of users and creators. Think of Second Life, but on the blockchain.
And just like in reality, you want your avatar to look its best. That's why Decentraland gives you the possibility to create, buy and sell digital clothing (wearables).
Digital Fashion?
Clothing is not just a way to appear decent in public. It is a form of expression. As such, fashion can be art. Pieces of clothing can be unique, created by historical designers or brands that create trends and express a type of personality. Fashion adapts and changes with the times. That's why lately, almost no clothing brand escapes from what is the latest trend: digital fashion. We spend more and more hours in front of the computer, and on our phones and tablets. For new generations, customizing your avatar in a digital realm is familiar. This is all taken into account by fashion brands who see the enormous potential that exists in the metaverse.
As a result, the fashion industry is adapting to NFT technology, not only as a purely digital asset, but also as a way to integrate the advantages that blockchains offer.
Brands like Nike, Vans, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Adidas, and Gucci—all of which have launched their own collections of NFTs—are the best examples of what brands can do by using blockchain. In a few years, if you want to wear Air Jordans in a virtual reality world, you'll have to buy an NFT from Nike. If you choose, you can then sell it on the secondary market and Nike will see a royalty for that sale.
To bring together all these brands and digital fashion lovers, Decentraland is launching Metaverse Fashion Week. This is the first ever digital fashion event in the metaverse!
Metaverse Fashion Week (#MVFW)
MVFW will have a complete program of fashion shows and presentations, with pop-up sales spaces and after-parties following the shows along with a succession of immersive experiences. MVFW attendees will have the opportunity to view runway presentations, interact with other viewers, and even shop for virtual clothing and accessories for their online avatars. Visitors to the MVFW can expect to see what they would witness on fashion catwalks such as those in New York, London, Milan, or Paris. Simply put, this is just like any other fashion show, the major difference being that it is hosted in a virtual world instead of the physical world.
Although the full list of participating brands are being kept under wraps, some of the world's biggest fashion brands are expected to take part in the MVFW. Among the brands that have confirmed their participation are Vogue, Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, Selfridges, Elie Saab, FEWOCiOUS, Guo Pei, Etro, Jacob & Co, The Fabricant, Dundas, Cavalli, Paco Rabanne, Hogan, Levi's, and ASICS, among others.
In addition, projects such as Bosón Protocol, ParcelNFT, MetaParty, and Dragon City have launched a wearables contest in which designers can present their candidacies, the winners of which will be announced during the event.
This event is not to be missed, if you want to discover what is possible within the metaverse and digital fashion. Imagine what this space will be like in five to ten years! We are so early, and it is exciting to see the first steps!
🎙 Interview: Fabeeo Breen (Dcl Curator)
Many 3D designers will get jobs in the metaverse in the future, including, but not limited to, architects, fashion designers, video game developers, and interior designers. The future of work is going to undergo significant changes in a short time, and it is advisable to prepare.
In today's interview we talk to Fabeeo Breen, an experienced digital fashion designer who has been creating clothes for different platforms such as Sansar and Second Life for years.
Two years ago he launched his first wearables collection on Decentraland and after much effort, he became a curator. His is an excellent example to follow for those who want to get a job in the metaverse.
DA: How is everything going, Fabeeo?
F: Such a great time to be in digital fashion! I’m very excited for the upcoming events and how this will shape the future of fashion in both worlds: real and digital. Our virtual lives have never been this fashionable.
DA: How long have you been in digital fashion?
F: I started as a VFX artist for the cinema industry in 2014. I founded Fabeeo Breen brand in 2018 starting from Sansar and Second Life virtual worlds. After developing the first digital only collection (more than 700 pieces), I joined Web3 in 2020, by creating a bridge between wearables and NFT collections. Nowadays you can collect FBRN collections on Opensea and major NFT marketplaces which will make you eligible for Decentraland and Sansar wearables airdrop. Flex your experience!
DA: How did you get a job at Decentraland?
F: I have experience in creating wearables for many virtual worlds, knowing well the technical side of the creation process. But most of all I have to thank the FBRN community for proposing me to join the Decentraland curation committee. This was a great experience of decentralization and how powerful a DAO can be! I wouldn’t make it without community support. Big thank you guys!
DA: What does that job consist of?
F: The Curation committee ensures the technical quality of the submitted wearables and IP ownership. The main objective is to keep Decentraland a safe place without stolen or buggy wearables that will be hard to track and keep down once they are minted on the blockchain. Wearables must respect the technical rules of the metaverse and the gameplay, this is what a curator member addresses.
DA: Are you going to participate in fashion week?
F: Yes for sure! Be ready guys! FBRN will have a Pop-up store in the Rarible district and many more collaborations all around the event! If it’s digital and fashionable, it’s Fabeeo Breen.
DA: Any advice to not miss anything during that week?
F: Don’t get drunk too fast! Event places will show up in your Decentraland panel. Just login 24/25/27 of March and click on your avatar icon (top right screen) to explore what’s going on.
DA: What projects do you think will be the protagonists during that week?
F: All projects will be, since this is a whole new dimension for event planning and digital fashion. Just being there makes you a protagonist of a new era.
DA: How do you see the digital fashion market today?
F: Fresh! People are getting closer to their digital identities and fashion is a central part of our existence. What digital fashion gives you more than real fashion is that it has no physical, geographical, religious or political limitations. Digital fashion is not only about clothing lines, it is a way to express our deepest personality.
DA: Do you have a favorite designer or brand?
F: Versace, Valentino, to name two. I am Italian and I love Italian haute couture.
I often watch Gianni Versace interviews, he is a great inspiration for me.
DA: How do you see the Fabeeo Breen brand in five years?
F: Full focus on Web3 and metaverse. Fabeeo Breen wearables collections available across even more virtual worlds, collaborations with real brands and exclusive NFT collections. Fashion online retailers are embracing Web3 and digital fashion. As a pioneer in this field, I see the Fabeeo Breen brand being a protagonist of the new evolving scenario.
DA: What would you say to those who say that NFTs are scams?
F: They probably are the same persons who always said Bitcoin is a scam. NFT is a generational switch where younger generations are finally protagonists.
Thank you very much for your time Fabeeo, see you at the Metaverse Fashion Week!
DAO Heat
DAO Heat is an NFT contest that aims to foster collaboration between guilds in BanklessDAO (bDAO) and to showcase the talent we have in our guilds.
They have just released their Epoch 0 NFT, which is unique because it’s the creation of BanklessDAO's first community-wide NFT contest. This NFT was built in two stages: first a writing contest and then a design contest. Chosen by the community, the winning submissions have been combined into an NFT.
They are distributing NFT profits to the writer, designer, Writers Guild, and Design Guild, and will be reinvesting the remainder to develop the next contest.
Epoch 0 NFT holders will be granted access to the DAO Heat Club, where you will receive insider benefits, such as access to pre-released NFTs, discounts, and you will be able to join their members-only Omega Project, which aims to build the ultimate NFT.
