NFT Flippers & DAOpunks | Decentralized Arts
BanklessDAO Weekly NFT and Cryptoart Newsletter
Dear Bankless Nation,
If we looked in the mirror, what would we see? We would see a community made up of many people, each with their own dreams and passions, who collaborate to build something that is greater than the sum of the individuals. If we didn't stop at the first glance, perhaps we would recognize the silhouettes of pulsating passions in the DAO and in that case we would easily recognize the presence of cryptoart and NFTs.
In this issue, we’ll talk almost exclusively about this strong union between BanklessDAO and NFTs: DAOpunks, NFT Flippers and the Design Guild Artist of the Week.
Season 3 has just begun.
Welcome to Decentralized Arts.

Red is the main Bankless color and it's reflected in the translucent red fabrics on this punk.

Red also represents THE RED PILL
"Working on this NFT was a blast. I was inspired by my many years as a corpRAT. One time after work I heard a grinding metallic sound and realized it's what a soul sounds like when going through a meat grinder…just another day as a corpRAT. When I found DAO life I felt like this punk, jumping into a rabbit hole and escaping the infinite layers of blah blah BS. Blasting forward into a new realm full of infinite possibilities where I could FLY."
“I wouldn’t have called myself an artist a year ago. Now that I look back, I was wrong. I’ve always been an artist. An artist in training. From being interested in photography, architecture, and design at a very early age to learning graphic and web design during my high school and college years. I’ve constantly been learning and pushing my own boundaries without knowing what it was all for…until now. I’ve reached a pivotal moment in my life where I’ve realized that everything I’ve been learning and accomplishing over my life has lead me to this very moment. I am working on my life’s work. The work that is going to document a cultural revolution. The work that is going to feed my family. The work that is going to be around when I am long gone. I have found my true purpose. WAGMI.”
“When we started working on this piece, we only had the Bankless sneakers designed by the talented Arnld. Then we wanted to create a Bankless character, one that many of us could relate to.
Crypto Bushi and I began brainstorming and putting together some ideas: The model, the posture, the clothes, the vibes, the color palette. After we got the concept and decided on the clothing, we couldn’t find the trousers that we wanted to have, so CB suggested that I create them. Oh well, I always liked fashion but creating something digitally wasn’t one of my skills. However, I gave it a go and I started creating the trousers. I spent hours on end trying things, getting it wrong and improving it. Then after some time I managed to create a piece of digital clothing. I was proud of myself.
Then we finished the character that we codenamed Bankless Native 001. We really liked it and I thought, wow, this is amazing. I loved it. That was it, we had the NFT. Then again, CB wanted to try to animate it. And then after some camera moves, we started creating a story. After that, we needed some music and video editing. This is where Sinjun comes in and we finalized the piece.
Imagine, if I liked the piece when I thought we had it… now I was over the moon. We created this unique piece over and beyond my expectations.
I am grateful to be able to work with like minded individuals like Crypto Bushi, Sinjun and Arnld. It was a great learning experience.
Now after this, I have much more respect for designers, artists and people that make things. Because every little thing, every detail requires someone an amount of time to create it. I won’t watch at a Disney movie with the same eyes again.”
“I’m a footwear designer from Brazil and ever since I started learning more about crypto, crazy things started happening hah.
Joined a DAO, started investing more confidently in crypto, got to meet amazing people, dropped an NFT which did really well and shook my mind. So that’s just a brief story of how things are going.
As for the Bankless sneaker, the idea was to create a piece that would live well on the metaverse. The upper is disconnected from the sole as if it was floating about it, giving a lot of comfort but also playing with the concept of entering the digital world where gravity doesn’t really matter.
In between the outsole and the upper is a mesh connecting many spots, representing the connections we make in the crypto verse. The concept was to be modern and fitting with the DAOPunk aesthetics.
But overall, it was about having fun and trying to create something using a skill I’m still developing, which is 3D modeling.
Last year I started learning a bit more about 3D and it’s been so much fun but very complex. But the results I’m getting have been amazing.
I’m really happy I was able to contribute to the project!!”
The NFT Flippers
The Flipper team is composed of BanklessDAO members that make NFTs part of their daily lives. With the Flipper tool we aim to enable other NFT enthusiasts to become profitable Flippers and part of the Flipper pack. Join us on Discord.
Think you can swim with the killer whales?
How long can you hold your breath with positions underwater?
Do you thrive under pressure?
Are you a true flipper or are you just another fish?
Only a dolphin has what it takes to swim in the Open Sea.
Be the dolphin with the Flipper NFT tool from Flipper.zone
The world of NFTs is its own niche within the already niche world of crypto. Within this world there are several truths. Whales will front run you, then dump on you. Fresh Fish will inevitably get dumped on and be left holding the bag. “In it for the art” is the new “in it for the tech.” The sharks are present here more than ever, always out for blood (ETH). As with any feeding frenzy, high-volume events will lead to a lot of splashing and crashing in an OpenSea.
Within this crazy world there is another group of players. The Flippers. A flipper lives for the feeding frenzy. Hyped mints or reveals are why they get up in the morning, if they went to bed at all. Many traders strive to find success as a flipper, but most fail. They fail not for lack of trying, but for lack of an edge. In the highly competitive and fast paced environment that is NFT trading, a few seconds makes all the difference.
Tools designed for NFT trading have been receiving a lot more attention because of the edge they give their users. Features such as quick-sniping, fast metadata reveal and early rarity calcs are becoming more available as more tools come to market. Flipper.zone will include these features and more.
Flipper.zone is a stand-alone web app. Users enter the web app to access Flipper, our multi-feature NFT trading tool. Access will only be granted to users with a Flipper NFT (ERC-1155) in their wallet. Users will be able to conduct all of their NFT trading activities within the web app. The focal point of the main sniping page will be a chart of the target collection. Our chart is different from other charts. Other NFT tools show sales vs. time. Flipper provides insights into sales vs. rarity. Unsure what to list that NFT for to maximize your profit? Flipper has you covered. Our optimal sale-price trend line functions to continuously appraise the collection, based on the listing and sale history across multiple timeframes. As owners list NFTs, our users are able to clearly identify if an asset is underpriced or overpriced based on prior sales. Once a target is identified by the user, they will be able to quickly buy or “snipe” the asset to front-run anyone else with the same idea. This sniping interface is the feature we will ship with first, but that is merely the first tool in our cue for development.
The growth of our discord this past week has been very exciting and we look forward to opening up the chat closer to launch. We have included a roadmap, but we fully expect it to change as we adapt to the market and trends. We can’t wait for everyone to try out our interface and to provide feedback on current features or ideas for fresh ones. We limited our mint to 500 passes to create a close community of members: a tight group sharing alpha, having fun and working together to maximize their profits. Dolphins hunt in groups, remember? After launch we plan to hold sniping workshops and strategy discussions for members to learn the ins and outs of the tool as well as get to know each other.
Flipper.zone is a project developed by flippers, for flippers. Our team is made up of BanklessDAO members and we have the support of the DAO. We are just getting started.
We want to make sure you get all the latest Alpha from the Flipper team so please join our official channels below.
This BanklessDAO NFT tool will help you become an NFT pro. There will only be 500 access NFTs so be sure to join the Discord and follow Flipper on Twitter. BanklessDAO members who have over 35K BANK will be whitelisted and presale raffles are starting now.
📰 Curated NFT News
Meta Considering NFT Marketplace
Anonymous reports from different sources close to the subject point out that the company, which is the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is working on an NFT marketplace. These insiders indicate that users will be able to display, buy and sell NFTs on the platform.
While Meta has not confirmed the reports, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, said that the social platform was, “actively exploring NFTs” on a Twitter thread last month.
Coinbase to Let Users Pay for NFTs with Mastercard in forthcoming NFT Marketplace
The flagship cryptocurrency exchange is partnering with Mastercard to allow their users to buy NFTs using their credit card. This will allow anyone to buy the digital pieces without having cryptocurrencies in their wallets.
This new development will make NFTs more accessible to a wider audience. “Expanding the audience for NFTs allows this burgeoning market to support more creators and could spark the next evolution of digital commerce,” says Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s executive vice president of digital asset and blockchain products, on the Mastercard website last week.
However, this won’t be the first platform to allow NFT purchases with credit cards. Rarible has accepted payments with Visa and Mastercard since last year. The prescient move was designed to make Rarible the most accessible and user-friendly platform for digital assets. It certainly didn’t hurt.
Twitter Launches NFT Profile Pictures
Twitter has introduced a new NFT profile verification feature in which people can connect to their crypto wallets and set an NFT in their collection as their profile picture. You can see how it is done in this video. But, at the moment, it is only available to Twitter Blue subscribers. Sigh.
Elon Musk reacted to the news complaining that the social media platform is spending resources on this instead of addressing the problem of the numerous Twitter accounts that promote crypto scams.
BanklessDAO Artist Showcase - Asturias
I'm an aspiring artist currently learning to draw decently and perform magic on photoshop for POAP artworks. John Howe and Alan Lee are my inspirations because they use one pencil to rule 'em all!
bDAO: What does it mean to be an artist in BanklessDAO?
Ast: BanklessDAO has given me invaluable opportunities as an aspiring artist. I have never found the courage to seriously draw in the pre-DAO days. My hand-me-down tablet sat in my drawer for two years, untouched and neglected until DAOlife happened. I had never used Procreate and was totally clueless about photoshop brushes. BanklessDAO gave me a reason to discover this magic and grow.
bDAO: What are your thoughts on the NFT world?
Ast: The NFT world symbolizes the empowerment of artists and creatives. Art has never been more accessible to the masses until NFTs and never so intertwined with people's identities or social life. NFTs have pushed people to adopt art into their lives in ways previously not thought of e.g. wearing a favorite NFT on a shirt, or smart watch. The ownership of the NFT, the fact that it's not a right-click saved image, transforms the relationship we have with the artwork into something deeper.
bDAO: How can DAOs help art and artists?
Ast: The best thing about DAOs is how anyone can grow to become an artist as long as they want to. In the gaming and film industry, an artists' qualifications, portfolio and work experiences matter and are often required for them to get the job. In DAOs, there is room to grow and acquire the portfolio and experiences while rubbing shoulders with industry players.
