Catch Up With What Happened This Week in BanklessDAO
Dear Bankless Nation 🏴,
It has been an amazing two years in the DAO as we steward the Bankless movement, progressing the world towards a future of greater freedom. In the past two years the DAO has seen many crypto newbies become pros in the web3 space. While the DAO may not be able to take full credit for their success, we can be confident that our community is a catalyst for ideas, relationships, and action.
This is evident when you discover that Bankless Rewards — a.k.a Thrivecoin — which rewards bDAO contributors with raffle entries for their contributions, has so far recorded 321 bDAO contributors and a total of 2,151 contributions in Season 7!
It’s been a busy and eventful season, and it’s time to celebrate the second anniversary of the DAO. At this week’s Community Call, Ryan Sean Adams and David Hoffman reflected on the DAO’s origin, and expressed awe at how far the DAO has come.
For this week’s editorial, Rollup Coordinators HiroKennelly and Trewkat spread the good vibes about the incredible community we have. As Hiro notes, “We could write a long article recounting our wins and our losses, the triumphs and struggles within our community. But that’s not what birthdays are for. Birthdays are for celebrating”.

The Season 8 funding budget for departments, guilds, and projects is now live. Please add your vote.
Season 8 Specification and Community-Indicated Direction
The Season 8 timeline is now live on Snapshot. If the vote passes, the Season 8 timeline will be Monday, May 15 to Sunday, August 27. This 15-week season is to be followed by a Gap Week: Monday August 28 to Sunday September 3.
Proposals in Discussion
Mosaic Distributed Knowledge Network
With this proposal, Mosaic, a distributed knowledge network, would be integrated into the BanklessDAO server. The DAO hopes to gain from this integration in a number of ways. Participate in the conversation and vote on the idea.
Helix.im AI Chat Support — Trial
This proposal highlights the intention of integrating the DAO server with the Helix.im AI chat bot. This bot aims to facilitate the DAO's onboarding of new users. Check out the Forum post for further details on this suggestion.

Two years strong; let's keep creating.
When David Hoffman and Ryan Sean Adams airdropped BANK tokens to each Bankless Premium Subscriber two years ago this week, BanklessDAO was born.
Our broad direction was defined within the announcement: “BanklessDAO is a decentralized community to coordinate and propagate bankless media, culture, and education. Its goal is to drive adoption and awareness of truly bankless money systems like Ethereum, DeFi, and Bitcoin.”
Not long into the DAO’s existence, early contributors inspired the following mission for the DAO:
We will help the world go Bankless by creating user-friendly onramps for people to discover decentralized financial technologies through education, media, and culture.
And that’s what we’ve been doing for the last two years. 🔥🔥🔥
Long the symbol of rebels, or those who examine the system and see a better way to live, the Black Flag soon became a symbol of our Bankless affiliation. Recently, links inspired the DAO with a call to action entitled We Are the Black Flag 🏴, which in part, reminds us that:
We could write a long article recounting our wins and our losses, the triumphs and struggles within our community. But that’s not what birthdays are for. Birthdays are for celebrating, and that’s what we did today in an absolute 🔥 Twitter Spaces.
Make no mistake, WAGMI. Bankless is not a token; it’s not an abstract idea. It’s a community of some of the most dedicated, hardworking, passionate, creative, resilient, and down-right fucking awesome humans in web3, nay, the world. We are here to help people understand there’s a better way to live, and we devote our working hours in the DAO building things for those who seek autonomy, who yearn for freedom, who know there’s a better way.
Siddhearta reminds us that DAOs are playgrounds for growth and development. Growth and development are not easy, predictable, or linear. That statement stands true for people, for projects, for organizations. We are here to play, even if we take that play very seriously.
As we climb to the top of many ladders to fulfill our mission, we encounter unforeseen obstacles, but we’ve proven time and again that our community is united by a shared belief that together, we go farther. Looking over the horizon of our third year, we are just beginning to understand who we are and how best to serve our purpose.
We talk about the DAO as a toddler, but in truth its age is a dance between its contributors, its mission, and its resources. Some days it seems like we’re two-years old, other days it seems like we’re well on our way to adolescence. We might even feel downright adult once in a while.
We don’t know what our third year has in store for BanklessDAO. But we do know that in one year, we’ll still be here building onramps, creating products, services, and content to help the world go bankless. We’ll be doing that work as a community, as a group of self-selecting global citizens united by vibes and a passion for web3.
It’s trite AF to say it’s about the journey, not the destination, but in the case of BanklessDAO it is very true. We’re learning together what works and what doesn’t, where our norms sit, how to steer a vibrant and busy organization through change, and it all matters.
While we can’t predict the future, we’re certain that next year, as we write about our third birthday, we’ll be one step closer to fulfilling our mission, and many steps closer to each other.
