The Essential Web3 Glossary
Author: beejorama | Editor: trewkat | Designer: Tonytad
To paraphrase historian and techno-philosopher Terence McKenna, âEvolve your language, evolve your reality.â A kind of linguistic evolution is certainly taking place in the digital realm of web3. You see it in your DMs, on Crypto X, or when you post on a Forum. From gm, and hodl, to FOMO and WAGMI, the vernacular of this new digital frontier is growing and reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of its members â an ever growing decentralized network.Â
Whether youâre a crypto newbie feeling the intimidation of learning this digital dialect, an OG seeking to brush up on the latest jargon, or an NFT artist aiming to stay ahead of the curve, this glossary is your go-to guide. Created with care, itâs designed to demystify the bleeding-edge field of crypto, blockchain, NFTs, and more, offering clear definitions for everything from âApe inâ to âZK-rollup.â

Web3 Hackathon Success: Tips, Tricks, and Essential Hacks!
Author: Mashal Waqar | Editor: trewkat | Designer: Chameleon
Two all-nighters and a case of Mountain Dew may not be the best way to win during this hackathon season. You need to stay hydrated, listen to your team leader, aim for that minimum viable product, and even save time to build your deck. With hackathon season upon us, we thought it would be helpful to ship a few tips and tricks â shhh, just for you anon â to keep you crushing it on the keyboard.
Go for simplicity over complexity. Donât try to be overly ambitious and pack a million features into what youâre building. You want to think through a good MVP with a carefully laid out value proposition. It can be tempting to add a lot of features and tools, but remember the timeframe youâre working with, and be very pragmatic as you think about your end goal.
Beef up on how to snag that trophy at the next hackathon in this rundown by Mashal Waqar.
Friend.tech: The Newest Canvas for Crypto Artists
Author: William Murphy | Editors: trewkat and WinVerse | Designer: Chameleon
Every time something new comes along in crypto one has to wonder if it has staying power, and â so far â friend.tech appears to have secured a rare victory. Users purchase keys to gain direct access to a private chat with a creator, influencer, or friend. This article explores how artists can develop friend.tech as a home base in a dwindling digital art market.Â
In a time where crypto art is facing liquidity issues and artists are grappling with the challenges of how to pay the bills, friend.tech offers a compelling alternative to minting and directly selling your work. Itâs not just a platform; itâs a community, a marketplace, and a social network rolled into one. With built-in liquidity and a self-regulated market for keys, friend.tech provides both artists and collectors an optimized marketplace with a greater sense of stability and regularity that is often missing in the volatile, illiquid world of crypto art.

Optimism Provides a Shared Resource For DAOs
Article and Cover Art by trewkat | Edited by Kornekt
What do you get when you combine thousands of Forum posts, the governance processes of 20 different DAOs, and the goals of a public goods-oriented community? The answer is The Collective DAO Archives: Governance Library. Through this Library, Optimismâs open-source ethos is furthering the goals of the web3 community.Â
That is why the Optimism Collectiveâs work in creating and sharing The Collective DAO Archives: Governance Library is so valuable. Not only does this work collate the governance journeys of 20 key DAOs into one resource, it has also facilitated the synthesis of all that material into ten key takeaways.
I mentioned this âgoldmineâ in an earlier article about the Optimism Collectiveâs approach to governance. The research and synthesis was completed by Justine Humenansky for the Optimism Foundation, and itâs easy to see the application of the key learnings taking place through the Optimism Collectiveâs continual reflection cycles and bicameral structure (there are two voting houses with separate but shared concerns).
Read up on the 10 key takeaways for successful governance structures in DAOs in this recap article by trewkat.Â
