Collab.racadabra! | BanklessDAO Weekly Rollup
Catch Up With What Happened This Week in BanklessDAO
Dear Bankless Nation 🏴,
The magic of a community lies in its ability to bring people together to achieve things that they could never accomplish alone. BanklessDAO embodies this concept, striving for constant connection and partnering with other communities to improve the web3 space.
This week's editorial features an informative piece by Boluwatife about the proposal, submitted by DAOstewards on behalf of BanklessDAO, to become a 'Top 100 Communities' recipient of Collab.Land tokens. The DAO will receive around 700,000 tokens, some of which will be distributed to individual contributors throughout the year. The remaining tokens will enable bDAO, via delegation to the DAOstewards, to retain a role in the governance of the new Collab.Land DAO and its activities.
In other news, the 4th BanklessDAO Writers Cohort began on March 22. Through workshops and consistent weekly publishing, it encourages writers to grow their online presence and gain confidence. If you missed the kick-off meeting or haven't registered yet, please consider joining us for what promises to be the best cohort yet. The first articles will be published next Tuesday!
We hope you have visited the Forum this week to check the latest proposals and their associated discussions. This week's Community Call roundtable discussion focused on the time-locked BANK proposal and some potential changes to our membership requirements. Please read the Forum proposal and share your feedback!
As we head into another weekend, may this newsletter inspire your belief in the magic of community and growth. Season 7 is now half way through, and the next few weeks will be busy as our various teams plan and budget for a longer Season 8. Thank you for being a valuable member of our team, and we look forward to sharing our progress and achievements for many seasons to come.

🏛 Governance
Proposals in Discussion
🪶 bDIP-N: Selection and Election of BanklessDAO Vault Multi-Signature Wallet Signers
Through the temperature check in February, the DAO reached soft consensus to include text about the banklessvault.eth multisig signers in the Constitution. This bDIP includes proposed text regarding these individuals’ rights and responsibilities, plus election and removal processes.
The following eligibility criteria are proposed:
Recognition as a Level 2 Contributor of BanklessDAO.
Active membership of BanklessDAO for at least one year.
A previously held leadership position in the DAO (equivalent to Guild Coordinator, Project Champion, Grants Committee).
Experience as a signer on a multi-signature wallet.
Current knowledge of BanklessDAO’s governance procedures.
(optional) Should ideally have a chippi 😛.
Pending approval of this bDIP and ratification on Snapshot, the planned next step is to hold an election and replace the current inactive signatories. Please review the changes and provide input on documenting this important responsibility.
🔖 Formal Proposal — bDIP N — Format Change to Constitution & Community Handbook
The Format Change to Constitution & Community Handbook has also moved to the bDIP stage on the Forum. This bDIP aims to bring the bDAO Constitution in line with existing DAO and real world constitution formatting styles.
In addition to proposed section numbering and heading formatting, there are some placeholder headings included in this bDIP. This lays the groundwork for future changes to the DAO’s primary operating document so make sure to read it over on the Forum and share your input.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. Helen Keller
The brains behind the Collab.Land airdrops were not necessarily poking through the mind of Helen Keller when they thought of releasing a token, but they were on the same wavelength — sharing a desire to inspire thought and innovation in their community. Collab.Land may have started life as a Discord bot to enable communities to token-gate access, but in recent months we have seen the exciting plans the founding team are looking to share with their community of communities — more than 41 thousand communities according to a recent post on Medium.
Now, the team has launched the Collab.Land Miniapp Marketplace which is a platform where Discord and Telegram community managers can access verified miniapps for use in their communities. With partners such as Snapshot, POAP, Charmverse, and Sobol on already on board, we can look forward to some very handy integrations.
With the advent of Collab.Land DAO, Collab.Land decided to airdrop the new Collab.Land tokens to community members who had adopted their technology before February 14, 2023. Collab’s Top 100 Communities were given the opportunity to write a proposal to claim an allocation of the tokens. The great news is that BanklessDAO happens to be one of those communities!
Receiving tokens from partner organizations is great for the DAO as it creates valuable partnerships that can lead to new opportunities and growth.
We anticipate that these communities and their leaders will play a core role in $COLLAB governance and as such, allocating a significant portion of the initial distribution to them makes a lot of sense. This allocation will also provide an opportunity for the individuals within these ecosystems to step up and take a leading role in $COLLAB governance, without needing to acquire significant governance weight as individuals. Collab.Land Community Proposal Process
Collab.Land x BanklessDAO
Baer.eth from DAOstewards and gruad from the Treasury Department are our verified Top 100 representatives. BanklessDAO was eligible to claim over 700,000 Collab tokens and of course, this attracted many interested bDAO contributors to the discussion.
The full details of the proposal submitted on the DAO’s behalf are available in a Forum post. In short, the bDAO proposal committed to the following Collab.Land token distribution:
50% of the allocated tokens for community incentives.
30% for the BanklessDAO community treasury for long term governance engagement.
10% to Bankless DAOstewards paid over 6 months. Rewards will be distributed between active contributors in the workstream.
10% to the BanklessDAO Ops Department.
While the exact distribution mechanisms haven’t been finalised, the proposal text indicates that there will be a focus on ensuring at least half the tokens reach active contributors of the BanklessDAO community over the next 12 months, primarily through the ThriveCoin program and the development of Bankless-branded Miniapps for inclusion in the Marketplace.
Reactions And Thoughts From the BanklessDAO Community
The BanklessDAO community had much to say regarding how the claim should be distributed. Many comments with the DAO’s best interest at heart were put forward on the Forum post.
For example, while positive, the idea to reward those building ‘miniapps’ for the Collab.Land Marketplace was thought to be misaligned with current DAO capacity and the lack of identified opportunities in the dApp/bot development space:
Meanwhile, thinkDecade made a popular suggestion: that BanklessDAO continues to do what it does best: social media, management, onboarding, and education.
Last but not least, bDAO contributor and resident Collab.Land expert iSpeakNerd gave some insight into some of the opportunities associated with these tokens:
What Next?
This proposal has since been approved by Collab.Land and our representatives are in the process of verifying the correct wallet and DAO information as per the Collab team requirements.
One small hiccup has been that the DAOstewards multisig is not currently able to participate in Collab.Land DAO governance because the Origami platform does not verify multisigs, only individuals holding the Collab.Land membership NFT. It is anticipated that this will be addressed before the first governance proposals are posted.
As always we thank our awesome contributors for continually working to creating a resilient and sustainable DAO. As Phil Jackson, author and retired professional basketball coach, once said:
The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.
Let us grow stronger together.
