Community Highlights
💰 BANK is the most widely held social token! Forefront published a Social Token Mid-Year Report in collaboration with Coopahtroopa on the current state of social tokens. The bullish report is proof that we are all onto something, and there are A LOT of us!! With a $23.5m market cap, BANK is no slouch!
🛌 Getting in BED with the Uniswap treasury: The cryptoverse is noticing the power of the BED Index. Uniswap included. In this proposal, a $1M-$5M investment would be allocated to the Bankless BED Index to diversify Uniswap DAO’s treasury. The long-term goal of diversification is to provide financial balance to the organization’s balance sheets, enabling more security and less volatility for the DAO’s overall financial well-being. It's a strong signal to the health and happiness of the bDAO!
🛌 Pickle Finance buys $300k in BED: Pickle Finance is a liquidity mining app that allows access to a variety of pools and farms to stake your assets. They are diversifying their treasury with the BED Index.
🦾 DEGEN is working hard: DEGEN is now live in 26 servers, including DAOpunks, Zapper, PoolTogether, West Coast Customs (Pimp My Ride, CarCoin), Coordinape, and SushiSwap. DEGEN makes POAP distribution easy and is rapidly expanding. Know a DAO that could use DEGEN? APPLY HERE.

🧠 Crypto Sapiens Podcast: Listen in as Vinicius Vasconcelos, COO and Co-founder of Nftfy and Business and Product Development contributor at Lalo, introduces the Nftfy platform and discusses fractionalization of NFTs, and its potential impact to NFT creators, collectors and investor DAOs.
👨🎤 DAOpunks website is now LIVE! The new website provides the project roadmap as well as information about the team and minting. Minting is NOT LIVE YET. The final pieces are still in development and there will be an announcement with the mint date soon.
Get Involved
⚠️ Discord Changes! The Ops Guild has been changing the 🦚 Project and ⚔️ Guild gating this week so you might have lost access to certain channels. If you can't find a channel, go to General (Level 1) and reselect #guild-select and #project-select channels to regain access.
One significant change is for Guest Pass users. Guest passes will now need to be renewed after 7 days of inactivity. This feature is designed to keep the Guests engaged and taking part in the Discord. If you lost your Guest Pass this week, please reach out to an L2 or post in 🎢get-involved and we'll get you back in ASAP.

⛵️ ALL HANDS ON DECK: Compensation and PLM Working Groups: Compensation and Project Lifecycle Management are challenges that all DAOs face as they scale. In order to improve operational management, two working groups are being formed to address these problems.
To start, weekly meetings will be held on both topics and teams will continue to develop from there. If you are interested in joining one of these discussion groups, please add your availability to the following working groups:

The BanklessDAO New Member Guide
Welcome, frens, to BanklessDAO (bDAO). As recent additions to our community of contributors and builders, we know the onboarding experience can be overwhelming, even for those who are conversant in some of the crypto-native tools and culture permeating DAOs. To help demystify this process, we put together a new member guide. This guide will provide you with an overview of the necessary tools to get started. We will also share a few tricks to help smooth your transition into DAO life. A reading will familiarize you with the very basics, but expect a more comprehensive version of this guide to ship in November. For now, let’s dive in.
🧰 The DAOkit (DAO Toolkit)
BanklessDAO uses a variety of internal and external tools to allow easier asynchronous collaboration. To start contributing to bDAO, you will need a crypto wallet and access to Discord.
💸 Crypto Wallets
Crypto wallets come in two varieties: hot wallets and cold wallets. For brevity, we will focus only on hot wallets. MetaMask and Trust Wallet are two of the most popular hot wallets. You need a wallet to interface with the Web3 world within which most DAOs run, BanklessDAO included. A wallet also stores cryptocurrency, like BANK, bDAO’s native-governance token. MetaMask and Trust Wallet can be installed as an extension on most web browsers and downloaded as an app to your phone. As with any wallet, there are several built-in security protocols designed to keep your crypto safe. Please read more about best practices for wallet security, here. Tl;dr - store your seed phrase and private keys offline and never share this information with anyone. Ever. Period.
📱 Discord
Discord is our office in the clouds, accessible from your computer or phone. Discord is primarily a text-based interface, but it does have powerful audio options, including audio-based conference rooms and one-to-one voice chat. Discord is programmable and certain computer programs (bots) integrate with it to help automate DAO life.
BanklessDAO’s Discord is noisy, meaning it has many places to go, called channels. It's a bit overwhelming, especially at first. Take your time. Explore. This is new territory.

When you’re ready to contribute to BanklessDAO, you need to:
Get the Discord App.
Join the BanklessDAO Discord server.
Navigate to the #first-quests-welcome channel under First Quest. Read the info, click or tap on the emojis, and go to the next channel appearing under First Quest. Enjoy this ever-changing process of gamifying the steps to becoming a more proficient Discord user.
Next, under Welcome, click or tap on the #dao-start-here channel, which details the essentials for getting started in bDAO. Please familiarize yourself with its contents and the information behind the links. Follow the instructions to link your wallet or obtain a guest pass.
Head to the #guild-select channel under General. Select a guild that feels like a natural fit. Selecting a guild tag will unlock additional channels within that guild. Rest assured, you can select multiple guilds or change your selection later.
After you’ve selected a guild, navigate to the guild’s welcome channel and give a short introduction. People will welcome you, but you must also jump in - the more you give, the more you get.
Finally, contribute! At this point, it's just about showing up and doing what you are here to do - make friends and connections, and to do good work. Or as we call it: play.
As you become more familiar with DAO life, you’ll notice the array of tools BanklessDAO uses to “operationalize” the DAO. We’ll hit on the highlights below.
🧑💻 The BanklessDAO Wiki
The BanklessDAO Wiki is a fantastic resource for your journey into and through BanklessDAO. Built using Notion, the Wiki is our interactive library. Read the materials under Start Here and DAO Resources. Learn more about Governance and Guilds. This is the resource for understanding how bDAO operates.
🤖 Bots
Bots are everywhere in BanklessDAO, as they help automate and coordinate life within bDAO. The three main bots are:
Collab.Land
Collab-Land interfaces with your wallet. One way we show appreciation in BanklessDAO is by gifting BANK to each other for our efforts and contributions. Collab.Land automates this process. To learn more, go to the #hype-and-recognition channel and click or tap on the push-pin to access “How to use the tip bot (collab.land).”
DEGEN
DEGEN was developed by BanklessDAO's Dev Guild to enhance efficiency and collaboration. Essentially, DEGEN automates common tasks within bDAO. Although in active development, DEGEN continues to make DAO life more manageable.
Sesh
Sesh is our scheduling bot with built-in reminder functions. We use Sesh to confirm participation in meetings and to set alarms for events.
🕸 Coordinape
Coordinape is a wallet-connected app that facilitates our need to recognize and compensate each other for the effort and passion we pour into the DAO. After each season (szn), and sometimes intra-season, guilds use Coordinape to allocate BANK to guild members as a "thank you" for their outstanding contributions. Coordinape is a more formal process than gifting BANK with Collab.Land.
🚨 Snapshot
Snapshot is used for BanklessDAO governance, particularly DAO-wide voting. Also a wallet-connected app, Snapshot voting steers decision-making in bDAO. Votes are weighted based upon the amount of BANK held. Snapshot allows for everyone in bDAO to have a say in its direction, helping to keep the DAO decentralized.

🚨 Live Proposals 🚨
Vote for a new member of Ombuds: Ombuds office is an informal, impartial, independent, neutral, and confidential place for community members to address concerns. Members may contact the Ombuds office to report any forms or types of abuse, dysfunctions, shortfalls, delays, or violations concerning the functioning of the DAO. A proposal was put forth for the election of a new DAO member to replace Eagle. There was more than one applicant so a vote is necessary. Voting closes on October 30, 11:59 pm.
Proposals in Discussion
🐸 Braindump #5 Bankless DAO: An Ecosystem of Nodes: Frogmonkee shared a vision of how BanklessDAO can reach scale by organizing around discrete, project-based working groups or groups that have a shared set of values, processes, and skills. This bDAO ecosystem would be composed of Core Nodes like guilds, as well as Ecosystem Nodes like DEGEN and DAOpunks. Core Nodes would be the foundation from which Ecosystem Nodes could build off of and create value that flows back to the DAO. ☕️ Grab a coffee, read the full vision and share your thoughts!
🧮 Framework for Seasonal Budgets, Projects reviews and budget tracking: This proposal provides a framework that the bDAO Treasury can use to create and manage a budget, effectively and efficiently. This would include creating tools to control budgets, as well as processes to align budgets and expense tracking. The framework would also create roles in the Ops Guild responsible for overseeing projects and tracking KPIs or milestones.
🗺 DAO-Map: Transparency & Accountability: This proposal introduces the role of DAO Cartographer to create and maintain a map of the DAO to support transparency, enhance accountability, improve onboarding, and reduce communication overhead.
🏙 Bankless in the Metaverse: Atlantis World is a pixel metaverse with token-gating, video calling, DeFi, and in-game DAO voting. They are responsible for gamifying DeFi protocols (like Aave / Yearn / Sushi) and curating interactive learning modules through their Web3 Academy. Metaverses are like nations and bDAO should have its own “embassy” in many of them. Involvement in one doesn't detract from engagement in others. Some possible features in Atlantis include the ability to go inside our "clubhouse", view and play NFT's, buy digi-psychical Bankless merch, and swap cryptoassets for BANK tokens, etc. There is a big world ahead of us. Join us in creating a metaverse media node and digital presence.
🥊 Fight Club Education Grant Request: This proposal introduces the Education Program of Fight Club to Bankless DAO. The short-term goal is to excite, educate and create a pool of certified DAO capitalists who conduct due diligence and analyst services for Fight Club and any external venture DAO and funds. In the long term, the Fight Club Education Program aims to remove barriers to crypto venture investing while also increasing diversity across the bDAO financial space by up-skilling a global talent pool.
