BanklessDAO Inspires | BanklessDAO Weekly Rollup
Catch Up With What Happened This Week in BanklessDAO
Dear Bankless Nation 🏴,
Happy new month, BanklessDAO. We have come a long way since the start of the year — new projects have sprung up, tlBANK is up and running, we’ve stayed true to our mission of educating and onboarding, and we have left indelible marks throughout the web3 ecosystem. We are truly a force to be reckoned with!
As a DAO richly endowed with public good projects, highlighting Octant serves as a perfect segue into staying true to our mission. By buying and staking GLM on octant.app, you can support a ton of projects from bDAO delivering public goods.
There have also been updates in governance. We have new grant templates for guilds, departments, and projects requesting funding, temp check for citizenship upgrade, community call update requirements, and more. These are all good additions as we continue restructuring the DAO.
In this week’s Community Call roundtable discussion, Humpty talked us through curating cross-platform conversations that make an impact. It served as a reminder that while we continue building in the space, adopting these new web3 platforms helps foster the web3 culture.
Let’s keep building and adopting!

🛂 [Temp Check] — BanklessDAO Citizenship Upgrade v1
The authors of this proposal believe that to address issues around BANK distribution, values alignment, and overall community health, it’s necessary to restructure the rights associated with DAO membership levels. Guest Pass holders could still renew indefinitely, while roles and voting rights would move to L1 members (citizens). This is a first step, with future revisions for L2, L3, and L4. What's your take on this? Hit the Forum to read the discussion and add your thoughts.
🔊 [TEMP CHECK] GC — Community Call Updates
The DAO is doing exciting things, but it's challenging to track activities across different units. To support awareness, the GC is proposing a new requirement for funding, that all org units do an update on the CC once a month as part of their seasonal responsibilities. Drop your thoughts about this in the Forum.

The BanklessDAO Inspires Campaign
It is a well-known fact that it’s people that hold every community together. Contributors grow, thrive, and pass along knowledge to keep the community alive and relevant. BanklessDAO is a great example of such a community. From its inception to its present stage, contributors have worked to promote the Bankless mission.
Now, a new spotlight series celebrates the journeys of those who have grown through BanklessDAO and now pay it forward by exemplifying the boundless potential of web3.
The Genesis of BanklessDAO Inspires
This inspirational campaign germinated from an idea by dedicated community member jengajojo. Recognizing the diverse stories of personal and professional growth emerging from BanklessDAO, they envisioned a way to share these narratives more widely.
In coordination with the research guild, raw interviews were gathered from BanklessDAO members about their experiences. These covered how they got involved, what they learned, how they grew, and how BanklessDAO enabled careers in web3.
The DAO's marketing team then transformed these compelling testimonials into polished content for publication. This collaborative effort resulted in the initial launch of the BanklessDAO Inspires campaign.
The goal of this campaign aligns with the vision of BanklessDAO, which is to create user-friendly onramps to web3. The campaign is believed to push out content that will enable more individuals key into the web3 ethos and enlighten them to the opportunities that the innovation has to offer.
Amplifying Authentic Narratives
The first phase spotlighted four standout contributors: EurekaJohn, AnaTech, Ornella, and Anaphant. Their stories resonated as authentic perspectives on the ups and downs of the web3 journey.
EurekaJohn reflected on joining BanklessDAO as a stepping stone and learning ground to contribute to other DAOs. It also helped him launch his business– Eureka Street Creative.
AnaTech described how collaborating on public goods forged friendships and furthered her web3 education.
Ornella chronicled becoming a powerhouse contributor and launching her own content creation business.
Anaphant penned an ode to the welcoming BanklessDAO community that propelled her evolution.
Each narrative illuminated the optimism, grit, ingenuity, and comradery driving BanklessDAO’s mission. These highlight how DAOs can empower people to learn, build, and actualize their potential.
These stories demonstrate the value and growth of the community, and were therefore also used to support the DAO’s application for Optimism RetroPGF 3.
Grant Funding for Ongoing Impact
Given the success of Phase 1, jengajojo and the marketing crew envision the BanklessDAO Inspires campaign as an ongoing showcase. They plan on submitting a grant proposal to fund future operations.
If approved, BanklessDAO could continue uplifting contributor stories indefinitely. The initiative tangibly demonstrates the DAO’s strengths while empowering members to pay it forward.
This would be a good innovation because not only does it bring value to the DAO, it could also help inspire new joiners and help them get closer to being bankless. It would also enable everyone who has spent time in and benefited from this community to give back to the DAO.
If this proposal goes through, the project will be needing everyone's help. From early contributors who were favored by the bull and learned, grew and either launched interesting projects or got high profile crypto paying jobs, to those who joined during the bear and had the courage to buidl. Each individual's story is important and inspiring.
Make sure to look out for these developments.
A Journey of Growth and Giving Back
Today's BanklessDAO contributors will become tomorrow's inspirations. Their varied trajectories tracing personal growth will also chronicle the DAO’s progress.
Some may join skeptical but have their worldview expanded by the power of decentralization. Others gain hands-on education before launching startups or securing careers.
The goal is for all to have the opportunity to amplify their impact by passing knowledge to the next generation. For BanklessDAO, by contributors and for contributors will remain the guiding philosophy.
As the project evolves, its documentation of participant perspectives will grow. This living document will cement BanklessDAO's legacy as a transformational waypoint and on-ramp platform guiding pioneers to meaningful work in web3 and beyond.
The bull market is upon us my frens, let us continue to work, contribute and give back to the community in the ways we can. BDAO strong!
🎟️ Global Events: ETH LDN Recap
Author: NF Thinker
The popular ETH London hackathon ran from the 27-29 October this year. Official ETH events in London have been sparse recently so this collaboration with Encode Club was highly anticipated.
Set in the swanky ballroom of The Grand at Trafalgar Square, the event was adorned with deep purple lighting, a chill atmosphere, and plush carpets for laying your hacker heads… we saw pillows. All this to nurture creative juices and promote collaborative working. The food was bomb, and yes there was pizza.
There were bounties aplenty from Flare, API3, Google, Aztec, Tezos, Gateway.fm, Near, and many more, with over $70k in prizes. Overall winner by judges decision was Save Me Granny (Jono and Pri), a simple solution to social key recovery. BanklessDAO was an official media partner, and one of many supporters from the web3, data, and FinTech space.
1st: Save Me Granny
2nd: Quantum Oracle
3rd: Real Time Music Exchange
As we move towards mass adoption, it’s interesting to see some of the more familiar tech names getting involved in crypto events. We can’t wait to see what innovations usher in the next wave of consumers… we’re still early!
